Sleep Center Hawaii Notifies Individuals of Data Incident

Kailua-Kona, Hawaii – January 18, 2023 – Sleep Center Hawaii (“SCH”) is a medical sleep center with locations in Aiea, Hilo and Kona, Hawaii. On October 12, 2022, SCH detected and stopped a network security incident.  

Upon discovering this incident, SCH responded immediately to secure their network environment and launched a thorough investigation with the help of independent information technology security and forensic specialists to take appropriate actions. 

Although SCH has found no evidence that patients’ information has been specifically misused as a result of the incident, an investigation revealed that the following categories of patient information may have been exposed: name, date of birth, and insurance information. SCH has notified all potentially affected individuals of this incident. 

As of this writing, SCH has not received any reports of related identity theft since the date of the incident (January 18, 2023).

SCH mailed notification letters to affected individuals on January 17, 2023 which included additional information about what occurred and provided a toll-free number individuals can call to learn more about the incident.
